20151107 Easy Chili and Cheese Garlic Biscuits


Easy Chili


  • 1 pound ground beef

  • 1 cup chopped onion

  • 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons chili powder

  • 1 clove garlic, minced

  • 1 bay leaf

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

  • 4 teaspoons finely chopped jalapeno chile peppers

  • 1 (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes

  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce

  • 1 (16 ounce) can chili beans, undrained

  • salt and pepper to taste



  1. In a large saucepan over medium high heat, combine the ground beef, onion and bell peppers. Saute for about 5 minutes, or until beef is browned. Drain excess fat.

  2. Add the beans, chili powder, garlic, bay leaf, cumin, chili peppers, tomatoes, tomato sauce and salt and pepper to taste. Bring to a boil and reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 1 hour or longer, stirring occasionally.



Cheese Garlic Biscuits


  • 2 cups Biscuit baking mix (Bisquick – Betty Crocker)

  • 1/3 cup milk

  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese (grated)

  • 1/4 cup melted butter

  • 1/4 tablespoon garlic powder



Heat oven to 450 degrees. Combine baking mix, milk and cheese until soft dough forms; beat vigorously for about 30 seconds. Drop dough by spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown. Mix melted butter and garlic powder and brush over warm biscuits before removing from cookie sheet. Serve warm.
